Roman A. Eickholt Sr., 89, of Ottoville died at 10:06 p.m. Friday, at his residence.
He was born June 5, 1923, in Ottoville to John C. and Matilda (Miller) Eickholt, who preceded him in death.
On July 10, 1943, he married Agnes J. Schwaiger, who preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2000. He then married Margaret Wehri Dickman, who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 2012.
He is survived by his children, Roman (Pat) Eickholt Jr. of Continental, Bob (Donna) Eickholt, Terry (Stacy) Eickholt and Alan (Ann Rayle) Eickholt of Cloverdale, Mary (Ken) Doseck of Upper Sandusky and Bonnie (Bill) Beining, Leah (Dan) Ditto and Lisa (Albert) Bilimek of Cloverdale; 10 stepchildren, James (Karen) Clementz and George (Melinda) Clementz of Cridersville, Frank (Cathy) Clementz of Spencerville, Ronald (Elizabeth) Clementz of Lima, Robert Clementz of Rochester, Mich., Vernon Clementz of Monroe, Mich., Alan (Terri) Clementz of New Boston, Mich., Margene (Ronald) Craft of St. Marys, Mary (Robert) McBeth of Cridersville, Julie Clementz of Wapakoneta and Carol (Clyde) Verhoff of Fort Loramie; stepdaughter-in-law, Patricia Clementz; brother, Orval (Olivia) Eickholt of Cloverdale; sister, Calista Miller of Landeck; two sisters-in-law, Virgina Eickholt of Lima and Dolores Eickholt of Ottawa; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Eickholt; son, John Eickholt; grandson, Adam Eickholt; great-granddaughter, Camryn Mansfield; stepson, Lawrence Clementz; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Sharon (Phillip) Fry; two brothers, Ralph Eickholt and Vince Eickholt; two sisters, Katherine Altenburger and Agnes Ulrich; a half sister, Alvertice “Dolly” Friemoth; and three brothers-in-law, Arnie Miller, Bill Ulrich and Ralph Altenburger.
Mr. Eickholt was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1985 from Fruehauf Trailers, Delphos. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and was a life member of both the Ottoville VFW and Defiance AmVets. He retired from the Putnam County Fair Board in 2003 after serving for 41 years. He loved polka dancing and was a member of the Ohio Polka Boosters.
He was above all, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with them and would always put their needs before his own. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working all kinds of puzzles.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with Rev. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville, with military rites by the Ottoville VFW. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will be held 2 p.m. and an AmVets and VFW service will be held 7 p.m.

John A. Linder, 86, of Delphos passed away at 5:15 a.m. Saturday at Vancrest Healthcare of Delphos.
He was born on March 12, 1926, in Delphos to F. Pat and Pearle (Burt) Linder, who preceded him in death.
On Sept. 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to A. Joan Rice, who survives in Delphos.
Survivors include a son, Louis R. Linder of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Pat A. (Samantha) Linder and Leslie Geise; and four great-grandchildren, Halie, Addy, Sophia Linder; Naomi Linder.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Andrew Linder.
Mr. Linder was in the Navy during World War II and served in the Battle of Okinawa. He worked for the Pennsylvania/Conrail railroad as an operator. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Delphos Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471. He enjoyed playing the organ, fishing and traveling.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Reverend David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Family and friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gertrude E. Ernst, 95, of Landeck passed away at 2:40 a.m. Saturday at Vancrest Healthcare Center.
She was born on June 10, 1917, in Landeck to John and Rose (Fischer) Pothast, who are both deceased.
On April 24, 1940, she was united in marriage to Sylvester Knebel. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1971. She then married Albert Ernst on Aug. 13, 1978, who preceded her in death on May 26, 1979.
Survivors include one son, Jim (Jane) Knebel of Delphos; one stepdaughter, Joan Mason of Landeck; two brothers, Elmer and Omer Pothast; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 3 stepgreat-grandchildren; 7 stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and 1 stepgreat-great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Nick and Clifford Pothast; one daughter, Margurite Fisher; two grandchildren, Diane and David Maloney; and 1 great-grandson, Nicholas Mason.
Mrs. Ernst worked in the Delphos School District as a school bus driver, where she was the first female bus driver, and then worked at Lima Armature. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck and a member of the CL of C #84, served on the Board of Directors at the Senior Citizens Center for 15 years and active member at the Senior Citizens Center. She was a past member of the Eagles #471. She worked the election board for 35 years. Her hobbies included playing the piano and organ and she loved to dance.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, the Rev. Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Timothy Junior Rigdon, 55, of rural Spencerville, died early Sunday morning following a four wheeler accident on Kill Road, south of Landeck in Allen County.
He was born Oct. 7, 1957 in Lima to Billy Junior and Clara Marguerite Gay Rigdon, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Rigdon is survived by his very special friend of 19 years, Dawn L. Cummans, with whom he lived. Also surviving are his children; Jessica Jo Rigdon and Rochelle Reana (Dennis) Turner, both of Lima and Amanda Louise Rigdon and Timothy Riley Rigdon, both of Spencerville; 4 siblings, Mike Rigdon, Jeff (Debbie) Rigdon, Theresa Downard and Mark Rigdon, all of Lima; 4 grandchildren, Brooke Brown of Lima, Trey Rigdon of Tenn., Starla Turner and Caleb Turner, both of Lima.
An infant sister Lori Ann Rigdon preceded him in death.
Tim had attended Spencerville Schools, was employed at AWC Trucking Company of Delphos and had also worked at Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, camping and his four wheeler.
Funeral services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville with Rev. Andrew J. Atkins officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the West Union Cemetery, north of Spencerville.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mark Hennon Crider, 64, died March 8, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 7, 1948, in Celina to Clarence and Rosalie Crider, who preceded him in death.
He married twice, and is survived by two children, John Crider of Spencerville and Leah Crider of North Carolina; three grandchildren; and brother, Clair Crider of Venedocia.
Mr. Crider served in the military in Vietnam and returned to work at the downtown Shell service station. He was best known as the long-time proprietor of Mark’s Marathon service station in Shawnee. After retiring from fixing cars, he traveled around the country and then retired outside Spencerville with his dogs and his motorcycle.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Chiles Laman Funeral and Cremation Services Shawnee Chapel on Shawnee Road, the Rev. Bryan Bucher officiating. Burial will be at Wright Cemetery.

Donald A. Schweller, 75, died March 9 at the Gardens of Paulding.
He was born Jan. 12, 1938, in Ottoville to Julian and Regina (Hilvers) Schweller, who preceded him in death.
On Sept. 30, 1961, he married Norma Jean “Jeannie” Haunhorst, who survives.
He is also survived by a son, Todd Schweller of Paulding; two daughters, Lisa Clinton of Paulding, and Amy (David) Bleke, Fort Wayne; two brothers, John Schweller of Delphos, and Henry (Jeanette) Schweller of Ottoville; two sisters, Marie Ernst of Ridgecrest, Calif., and Francis Grothouse of Delphos; and six grandchildren, Lyndi and Julia Clinton, Claire and Jack Schweller, Grace Wirts and Seth Bleke.
He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Charles; and a sister, Anna Allersmeyer.
Mr. Schweller was owner/operator of Schweller Electric; a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding; and the Paulding Eagles 2405 and V.F.W. Post 587.
Mass of Christian Burial was held today at Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Paulding. Burial will follow in Paulding Memorial Cemetery.

On June 20, 1942, she was united in marriage to Joseph G. Bear, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2002.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Sharon Mennonite Church, with John Brunk, Kevin Beachy and Stanley Bear officiating. Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery.

Patricia A. Winicker, 65, of Van Wert passed away at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1947, in Lima to James and Martha (Krietemeyer) Bockey. Her father preceded her in death and her mother survives in Delphos.
On April 21, 1979, she was married to Paul A. Winicker, who survives in Van Wert.
Survivors also include one brother, Paul Bockey of Delphos; four sisters, Marie (James) Guest of St. Louis, Mo., Nancy (Kenneth) Rumschlag and Jane (Steven) Goedde of Delphos and Alice (Ronald) Rumschlag of New Haven, Ind.
Mrs. Winicker retired in 2011 from Vantage Career Center in Van Wert. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
Private family services will be held and officiated by Deacon Andy McMahon.

George Thomas ‘Tom’ Granger

The Lord called George Thomas “Tom” Granger home from his labors on Feb. 27 at his niece’s home in Tahlequah, Okla., with his family gathered by his side. Tom was 87 years old.
George Thomas “Tom” Granger was born on June 29, 1925, in Kent to Med and Irene (Auer) Granger. He was one of 11 children born into the Granger home.
Those left to cherish Tom’s memory include his loving daughter, Shirley Karman of Lonsdale, Minn.; two brothers, Ralph “Bud” (Ruth) Granger of Sidney and Donald (Audrey) Granger of California. He leaves two sisters, Ruth Granger-Stump of Van Wert and Katherine Granger (Tom) Smith of Landeck. Tom’s legacy lives on in his three grandchildren, Mark (Jennifer) Karman of Columbus, Elsa Karman of Williamsburg, Va., and Patricia Karman of Lonsdale, Minn. His great grandchildren include Connor Karman, Patrick Karman, Aidan Karman, Riley Karman, Edward Karman, William Karman, Dorothy Karman, Drake Karman and Dreznar Lehmkuhle; a very special niece and friend, Jennifer Hale of Tahlequah, Okla.; and many nieces, nephews, cousin and a host of friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents and his loving wife, Corky; his daughter, Gayle Engle, in 1979; his son-in-law, William B. Karman in 1999; five brothers, Mike, Carl, Jim, John, and Robert Granger; and one sister, Jeanne Schaffner.
Upon graduating from high school, Tom enlisted in the US Navy during World War II. He worked on the ore boats on the Great Lakes for the next two years, then met and married the love of his life, Corinne “Corky” Davin on March 1, 1947, in Duluth, Minn. This union lasted 55 years and blessed them with two daughters.
Tom was never one to sit and watch the world go by. He worked diligently for the US Naval Reserve and retired after 22 years. He served as career command counselor for the Naval Reserve Center in both Ashville, N.C., and Gulfport, Miss. He was a member of Naval Fleet Reserve Association. He retired after 30 years as the administrative officer for Job Corps and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He served as treasurer for the Rotary Club in Burns, Ore., was a Rotary member in Medina, N.Y., and president of the Boston Union National Federation of Government Employees – U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Chapter and the Nocturnal Adoration Society in Alburquerque, N.M. He was past president of the PTA in Salisbury, Mass.; Newport, Mass., PTA Council; Holy Name Society in Salisbury, Mass., and Alburquerque, N.M.; Lawton-Ft. Sill Kennel Club in Lawton, Okla., and the Ashville Kennel Club in Ashville.
He served as past commander of American Legion Post 268 in Delphos, Past Faithful Navigator 4th Degree Bishop Neumann Assembly, Past District Deputy District 8 of the Knights of Columbus, member, past usher, and lector at St. John the Evangelist in Delphos, life member of BPOE 1197 in Van Wert and the past president of Delphos Veterans Council.
Whenever he had some free time, Tom could be found taking his wife dancing. He loved country and western music, taking a long walk with his beloved Boston Terriers or relaxing at home watching a good western on TV. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend you could rely on. He cherished the time he spent with his family and enjoyed holidays with his family close around him.
From the youngest toddler to the oldest member in the room, everyone was given the famous smile he always kept on his face. Tom loved people and it showed. He was always the first to say hi and made you feel important whenever you spoke with him. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him in any capacity he could.
His loving wife Corky passed from this life in 2002 and Tom found himself longing for warmer climates and family to share them with. He relocated to the Tahlequah, Okla., area and was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church. He was loved by all and a very special man. He will be greatly missed for his warm smile and all the love he shared with those around him.
Mass of Christian Burial for George Thomas “Tom” Granger will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, with the Delphos Veterans Council providing military graveside services. Family visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, with the Knights of Columbus conducting memorial services.

Marie A. Lammers, 86, of rural Spencerville passed away at 3:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Rita’s Medical Center, with her family at her side. She had been ill since Christmastime.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1926, in Leipsic to Frank J. and Theresia G. (Winkler) Schroeder, who are deceased.
On Aug. 13, 1947, she married Albert B. “Abe” Lammers, who survives.
Also surviving are seven children, Janet Lammers of St. Marys, Karen (Chuck) Meyer of Youngtown, Ariz., and Robert (Deborah) Lammers, Terry (Robin) Lammers, Michael “Mick” (Cathy) Lammers, Joseph (Becky) Lammers and Marilyn Lammers of Spencerville; 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katheryn Rieman of Leipsic and Mildred (Joe) Brubaker of Hamler; and two sisters-in-law, Karis Schroeder of Leipsic and Aileen Schroeder of Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas A. Lammers in 1974 and William J. Lammers, who died in Vietnam in 1971; two sisters, Sister Mary Victor, S.N.D., and Syvilla (Alfred) Odenweller; three brothers, Guy Schroeder, Raymond Schroeder and Ralph (Alice) Schroeder; and a brother-in-law, Leo Rieman.
Mrs. Lammers was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville and its Alter Rosary Society; the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 Auxiliary; and the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 Auxiliary. She was also one of the last members of the Gold Star Mothers in Spencerville. She enjoyed her several religious shrine travels to Europe and Mexico.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Patrick Church, Father Stephen J. Blum officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.

Jeffrey L. Hasting, 54, of Delphos passed away at 1:35 a.m. Saturday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1959, in Lima to Albin E. “Pete” and Lynn M. (Young) Hasting, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include three brothers, Tim (Mona Russo) Hasting of Roanoke Va., Fred (Michelle) Hasting of Delphos, Mitchell (Julie) Hasting of Lima; two sisters, Pamela Scharf and Lynette (Chris) Stebleton of Lima; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Mike Scharf.
Mr. Hasting worked as a carpenter and millwright with the Local Carpenters & Millwright Union. He had previously worked as a stationary boiler operator at a power plant. He was an avid train and gun collector and enjoyed being outdoors, especially while hunting and fishing. He was also a licensed HAM radio technician/operator.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Shawnee Chapel Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lima.

Richard Bowersock, 92, of Spencerville passed away at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Roselawn Manor, where he resided the past two years.
He was born on May 2, 1920, in Salem Township in Auglaize County to Grover and Viola (McMillen) Bowersock, who preceded him in death.
On July 1, 1940, he married Dorotha Irene Smith, who died Dec. 6, 2005.
Survivors include his three daughters, Konita G. “Connie” (Albert) Klaus, Barbara I. (Roger) Crites and Laurie E. (John S.) Ball of Spencerville; seven grandchildren, Debra L. Klaus of Spencerville, Richard “Rick” (Nancy) Klaus of Lima, Stacy L. (Denise) Oakman of Spencerville, Jason S. (Rene) Oakman of Bellefonte, Pa., John A. (Tonya) Ball of Spencerville, Mark S. Ball of Oakwood and Jamie L. (Josh) Daily of Spencerville; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane Conrad of Denver, N.C., and Eunice Profit of Rockford; and a sister-in-law, Mary Bowersock of Spencerville.
He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Lanny Oakman; a grandaughter, Angelique R. Ball; five brothers, Don, Harold, Max Bowersock, Lowell and Robert Bowersock (who died in World War II and for whom the VFW Post 6772 was named); and five sisters, Gladys Holloway, Ruth Baker, Ester, Bernice and Dorothy Bowersock.
Mr. Bowersock attended Spencerville High School and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of Hartford Christian Church in Spencerville and a charter/life member of the VFW Post 6772. He was a farmer and carpenter, working many years for Jack Whitling, Ned Wurster and with his brother, Don Bowersock. He loved being outdoors and gardening.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, with pastor Robert King officiating. Burial will follow in Spencerville Cemetery with Military Rites performed by The Spencerville Veterans.

Katherine E. “Kay” Caprilla, 95, of Ottawa died at 7:38 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born November 21, 1917 in Baltimore, Md., to the late Thomas and Carrie (Miller) Mayo.
She was married to Robert Wannemacher who died Oct. 20, 1975, she then married Carman Caprilla, who is also deceased.
She is survived by two children, Charles (Nancy) Wannemacher and Gail (Jerry) Osting of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Robin (Jerry) Levine of Rockford, Mich., Scott (Bobbie) Osting of Ottawa, Anita (Rich) Ross of Ottawa, Jason (Cindy) Osting of Leipsic, Lindsey Wannemacher of North Carolina and Brent Brickner of Delphos; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Levine, Madison Levine, Avery Ross, Walter Ross, Kennedy Osting, Easton Osting, Claire Osting, and Blake Brickner. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Robert Wannemacher; 2 brothers: Charles and Clifton Mayo; and a sister: Hilda Hatter.
Mrs. Caprilla owned and operated Wannemacher Jewelers in Ottoville and Delphos from 1945 to 1981 and she later was a cook at the Ottawa Eagles. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa; Ottawa Eagles, Ottawa VFW and Ottawa American Legion auxiliaries; and had been on the Ottoville Village Council.
A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, the Rev. Matt Jozefiak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home, where there will be a scripture service at 2:30 p.m., Ottawa Eagles Auxiliary service at 7 p.m., Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary service at 7:15 p.m. and Ottawa VFW Auxiliary service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Robert W. Foust Sr., 87, of Delphos died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday at Vancrest Healthcare Center.
He was born June 6, 1925, in Wapakoneta, to Dewey and Margaret (Kerschner) Foust, who preceded him in death.
On Aug. 21, 1944, he married Virginia Morris, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Robert Jr. (Barbara) Foust of Findlay; a daughter, Maxine (Greg) Brooks of Spencerville; a brother, Howard L. (Dorothy) Foust of Elida; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Foust.
Mr. Foust was an inspector at Ford Motor company for 30 years. He was also an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and VFW Post 3035. He enjoyed working puzzles, fishing, hunting, crafts and spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.

M. Felicia Dickman, 87, of Fort Jennings, died at 9:55 a.m. Thursday at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Lima to Felix F. and Josephine E. (Cooley) Schroeder, who preceded her in death.
On June 10, 1950, she married Elmer B. Dickman, who died March 3, 1980.
She is survived by eight children, Mary Jo (Robert) Schmersal of Ottawa, David (Diane) Dickman of Wapakoneta, Louise (Phillip) Barling of Fort Smith, Ariz., James (Karen) Dickman of Fort Jennings, Thomas (Magaly) Dickman of Albuquerque, N.M., Barbara (David) Brotherwood of Delphos, Eugene (Patricia) Dickman of Delphos and Ann (Steven) Geise of Swanton; 30 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Irene) Schroeder of Ottawa.
Mrs. Dickman was a retired teacher from Fort Jennings Local Schools, where she was the music and band director and taught special education. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, where she played the organ for nearly 50 years. She taught piano and voice lessons to many area children, was a member of Putnam County Retired Teachers Association, Fort Jennings American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the former Fort Jennings Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed bowling and was on the same bowling team for 50 years. She also enjoyed traveling, especially with her dear friend, Eda Kohls, but above all she loved spending time with her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday and 2-8 p.m. on Sunday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, and one hour prior to the mass on Monday at the church. There will be a scripture service Saturday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
