Marciel E. “Marcy” Warnecke, 80, of Delphos, died Thursday at Sarah Jane Living Center.
She was born March 21, 1933, to Lawrence and Christine (Elwer) Lammers, who preceded her in death.
On June 16, 1951, she married Gene Warnecke, who survives in Delphos.
Other survivors include four sons, Mike (Denise) Warnecke of Springfield, Dan (Jan) Warnecke of Georgia and Joe (Sherry) Warnecke and Jim (Suzie) Warnecke of Delphos; three daughters, Cinda Kinstle of Van Wert, Linda (Jeff Cary) Flanagan of Elida and Becky (Drew) Spieles of Delphos; three sisters, Catherine Wolf and Vera (Herman) Hemker of Michigan and Alice Pohlman of Delphos; a brother, Abe Lammers of Spencerville; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and two blessings on the way.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, baby Jo; a sister, Luann Altman; three brothers-in-law, David Altman, Ray Pohlman and Glen Wolf; a sister-in-law, Marie Lammers; and two sons-in-law, Mike Woods and Lee Kinstle.
Mrs. Warnecke was a homemaker and member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was very active with family activities, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events but especially organizing outings with them.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Chris Bohnsack officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and at 9 a.m. Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Bendele, 86, of Delphos passed away at 5p.m. on Thursday at Vancrest Healthcare of Delphos.
She was born to Carl and Eulalia (Kalt) Mueller and was raised by her step-mother Florence (Feathers) Mueller; they all preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to Rudolph Bendele on Oct. 30, 1947; he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1995.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Linda Bendele of Delphos, Elaine (Lee) Ulm of Delphos and Janet (Steve) Howell of Spencerville; 2 sisters; Rita (John) Deerhake of Lima and Margie Mick of SC; 1 brother, Larry (Shirley) Mueller of Spencerville; 5 grandchildren; Chad (Lisa) Ulm, Carrie (Dr. Matthew) Akers, Leslie (Koby) Gladen, Cody Howell and Brian Howell; 4 great-grandchildren; Reagan and Grant Ulm and Korbyn and Kyla Rae Gladen; special sisters-in-law JoAnn Mueller of Spencerville and Helen Bendele of Delphos.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Don Mueller and Thomas Mueller.
Mrs. Bendele was a homemaker and early in life worked at W.T. Grant Company in Delphos. Later, she worked with her husband as office manager at Spencerville Lumber Company. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, a past member of the CD of A and a volunteer at Delphos Interfaith Thrift Store. She enjoyed traveling to her winter home in Florida and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday at St. John Evangelist Church, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where there will be a Parish Wake beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Janice M. Kleman, 82, of Fort Jennings, died 7:20 p.m. Friday at Vancrest Healthcare Center in Delphos, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 12, 1930 in Hamler, to Edward and Agnes (Okuley) Collins, who preceded her in death.
On June 24, 1950, she married James W. Kleman, who survives in Fort Jennings.
Also surviving are her children, Gary (Rhonda) Kleman, Terry (Judy) Kleman and Diane (Garry) Stennett of Fort Jennings, Dave (Cheryl) Kleman of Ottoville, Kevin (Carol) Kleman of Ludlow Falls, Kim (Kent) McCracken of Delphos, Keith (Misty) Kleman of Celina and Monte (Kate) Kleman of Herndon, Va.; 31 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Juanita Arend of Archbold; and a brother: Dale Gerschutz of Smithville, Mo.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katherine.
Mrs. Kleman retired as an accountant with First Federal Savings and Loan, Lima. Before beginning her job there, she had previously worked for the Black Angus, Kalida. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, the Rev. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Mary H. Dienstberger, 88, of Delphos passed away at 4p.m. Thursday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
She was born in Washington Township to Otto and Mary “May” (Kershner) Jettinghoff, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include 2 brothers; Paul Jettinghoff of Newton, NC, and Louis (Lorene) Jettinghoff of Delphos; and 13 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Art Jettinghoff; sister, Alice Hays; 2 sisters-in-law; Kathryn Jettinghoff and Mildred Jettinghoff; and brother-in-law Jerry Hays.
She was an office manager for Household Finance for 3 1/2 years and served the company 38 years. She also worked at the Commercial Bank for 9 years.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a 1942 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School and attended Northwest Business School.
Mrs. Dienstberger loved music, especially playing the piano. She played piano for Autumn Years Choraliers singing group, was a member of the high school choir and St. John’s Church Adult choir. She was also a volunteer at St. Rita’s and at the Delphos Canal Commission.
She liked to bowl, read, needle point, counted cross stitch, bird-watching, watch golf and play cards with her friends. She was an avid Notre Dame and OSU Buckeye fan. She was very much a people person, making every occasion a party. She made everyone’s day brighter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Melvin Verhoff. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, with a Parish Wake beginning at 7p.m.

Andrew Tarek Katbi

Andrew Tarek Katbi, 24, of Delphos and Columbus, died Sunday afternoon in a car accident near the Virginia-North Carolina border.
He was born Oct. 2, 1988, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima to Tarek and Leslie (Skelly) Katbi.
He is also survived by a sister, Olivia; maternal grandparents, Carl and Linda Skelly; paternal grandmother, Ghunia Katbi; girlfriend, Kalynn Yeater; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends here and in the Middle East.
Mr. Katbi was valedictorian of the St. John’s High School class of 2006. He loved playing soccer with the Delphos Legends. He went on to graduate with honors from Ohio Northern University with a degree in finance and served on the Student Investment Group while there. He was currently a student at Duke University School of Law. He was set to graduate in May and start a career with Baker Hostetler in downtown Columbus. While at Duke, he served as senior lead editor of the Alaska Law Review.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Laman Shawnee Chapel. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.
Donald J. ‘Don’ Lindeman

Donald J. “Don” Lindeman, 77, of Delphos, died 2:35 p.m. Monday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born on December 4,1935, in Lima to Joseph E. and Bertha (Pohlman) Lindeman, who preceded him in death.
On June 8, 1955, he married Lorene Hoehn, who survives in Delphos.
Also surviving are three sons: Terry (Doris) Lindeman of Delphos and Randy (Deb) Lindeman and Kevin (Lisa) Lindeman of Ottoville; three daughters: Cindy (Jack) Bertling and Lisa (Adam) Williams of Delphos and Donna (Joe) Miller of Ottoville; 15 grandchildren: Jennifer (Russ) Craig, Eric Lindeman, Ryan (Jessica) Lindeman, Cory (Jessica Jettinghoff) Bertling, Melissa (Andy) Nichols, Christina (Peter) Collins, Stephanie (Geoff Okumu) Lindeman, Annie Lindeman, Elizabeth Alt, Jessica Alt, Michelle (Adam) Kayser, Lynn (Matt Elwer) Lindeman, Brad Turnwald, Nathan Turnwald and Rachel Turnwald; three step-grandchildren: Nathan Miller, Elisa Miller and Joey Miller; three great-grandchildren: Jonathan Craig, Joshua Craig and Elias Bertling, and one on the way; two sisters: Beatrice (Donald) Kaverman and Louise (Tony) Warnecke of Delphos; and two brothers: Roger (Lois) Lindeman of Wapakoneta and Richard (Diane) Lindeman of Delphos.
He is also preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Lindeman.
Don enjoyed listening to and watching DVDs of country music from the 50s, woodworking, making model train layouts, taking care of his lawn, planting trees, eating breakfast with his friends after Mass each morning, driving his Ford van and feeding the birds. He was very proud of his grandchildren and great- grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
After graduating from St. John’s High School (Blue Jays), he worked as a mechanic for Martz and Wannemacher’s Motor Sales. He then worked at Raabe Ford as a parts, body shop and sales manager for most of his adult life and in 1981, he purchased the dealership and operated it until 1989. Don’s favorite sayings were “Come back when you can stay longer” and “Who has more fun than people.”
Don was a member of the Delphos Chamber of Commerce, Delphos Knights of Columbus and St. John’s Catholic Church, Delphos.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Revs. Chris Bohnsack and John Stites officating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township (on the corner of St. Rts. 634 and 224), where a Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m.

Ralph E. Shaeffer, 59, of Delphos, died at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
He was born Aug. 8, 1953, in Lima to Robert and Goldie (Butler) Shaeffer. His mother survives in Lima.
On May 5, 1973, he married Mary Runyan, who survives in Delphos.
Other survivors include a son, Robert Shaeffer Sr. of Delphos; two daughters, Michele (Dwayne) Collins of San Diego and Nicole (Danny) Schleeter II of Delphos; a sister, Linda (Gerald) Bowers of Spencerville; three brothers, Rick Shaeffer and Terry (Sherri) Shaeffer of Lima and Jeff (Mary) Shaeffer of Elida; 10 grandchildren, Jordan and Alexandrea Williams of San Diego, Natashia, Tyler and Robert Jr. Shaeffer and Kali Edgington of Delphos and Gage, Victoria, Katlynn and Danny III Schleeter of Delphos; seven nieces and nephews; and four great-nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son.
Mr. Shaeffer worked at Drapery Stitch in Delphos for more than 25 years. He was a 1972 graduate of Lima Senior High School and a member of Eagles Aerie 471. He was an avid bowler, bowling eight 300 games and two 800 series. He was also a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Ohio State Buckeyes and going to car shows. Most important was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. Bill Schultz officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Melba L. Brown, 96, of Spencerville passed away at 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville, where she had resided since 2009.
She was born in Salem Township in Auglaize County, a twin daughter to Albert T. and Hazel C. (Gross) Haller, who preceded her in death.
On Sept. 29, 1939, she married Claude Stanley “Brownie” Brown, who died March 23, 1992.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, Pastor Tom Shobe officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencerville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where an Eastern Star Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. this evening.

Peggy S. “Peg” Lies, 51 of Spencerville died early Friday morning at her residence following a sudden illness.

Donelda “Donnie” M. Fisher 82, of Lima died at 9:44 p.m. Monday at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1930, in Lima to Frederick H. & Flo E. (McKibben) Schlosser, who preceded her in death.
On Jan. 10, 1975, she married George J. Fisher, who died Nov. 16, 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Michael (Kim) Fisher and Gerald (Deb) Fisher of Delphos; three daughters, Carol (Tim) Short and Judy (Mark) Gedeon of Delphos and Beverly (Jim) Wittkamp of Lima; and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers Jack, Len and Darrell Schlosser.
Mrs. Fisher graduated from Central High School in Lima. She had worked at Lima Trucking and Storage and then the Lima Public Library, where she retired from as a bookkeeper. Following retirement, she had also worked at Lazarus. She was a member of First Evangelical and Reform Church in Lima. She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, watching old movies and reading outside. She especially enjoyed bird watching and loved her two dogs, Luke and Sophie. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
Funeral services are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Schlosser Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.

Frederick A. Ruen, 78, of Delphos, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
He was born February 24, 1935, in Ottoville, to Aloysius and Loretta (Hilvers) Ruen, who preceded him in death.
He married Anna R. Youngpeter on Oct. 6, 1962, who survives.
Also surviving are their children, Douglas Ruen of Venedocia, Lenore (Frederick) Colhoun of Johnson City, Tenn., Monica (Howard) Waidley of Dexter, Mich., Kathleen Haines and Elizabeth (Scott) Wurst of Delphos; grandchildren, Rachel (Bryan) Sipe, Laura (Josh) Lyle, Logan, Raegan, and Morgan Haines, Victoria, Danielle and Johnathon Waidley, Emma, Eli and August Wurst and Erin and Alyssa Colhoun; great-grandchildren Payten and Jaymee Lyle and Baby Sipe who is on the way; and siblings, Paul (Joan) Ruen, Joe (Dorothy) Ruen and Roger (Diane) Ruen of Ottoville, Mary (Paul) Honigford of Coldwater, Catherine (Mel) Heitz of Landeck, Irene Bullard of St. Louis, Mo., and Millie Ruen and Marilyn (Dale) Calvelage of Ottoville.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Janet Plikerd Ruen.
Mr. Ruen retired from Aeroquip. After his retirement from Aeroquip he worked for Tool-Co. Inc. for six years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Delphos; a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council #1362, Delphos; AMVETS Post 0698, Middle Point; the board of the Delphos Canal Commission; The Citizens For Delphos Committee; and the founder of Delphos Project Recycle. In 1997 he was honored as the first Tri-County Man of the Year. He was also a member of the Putnam County Historical Society; the Farm Bureau; and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where he served as a greeter and Eucharist Minister. He was a 17-gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross and a 1953 graduate of Ottoville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany from 1958 to 1959.

Harry L. Dunlap, 84, of Delphos died Tuesday at 4:44 p.m. at home with his loved ones.
He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Delphos to Harry L. and Etta (Miller) Dunlap, who preceded him in death.
On Feb. 24, 1954 in Albion, Ind., he married Patricia Joan Dunlap. They were married for 48 years until she passed away on July 25, 2002.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise (Robert) Kloeppel of Delphos and Kelly (Christopher) Cotton of Grove City; a son, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Dunlap of Northwood; seven grandchildren, Dionna (Cory) Noonan, Derek Daulbaugh, Whitney and Brittany Dunlap and Emily, Alexander and Andrew Cotton; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexa Noonan; his loving companion of ten years, Joan Rosendale; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn (Stanley) Kaufman of Emmaus, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Cyril (Marcile) Dunlap; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Lisk-Rems.
Harry was a people person and worked as a salesman for Delphos Chevrolet and Raabe Ford in his earlier years. Later he worked for St. John’s Schools and Jefferson Middle School as a custodian and really found joy working with all the kids.
Harry was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was very proud of his family. He was the heart of the family and always brought a smile to everyone who knew him. He was a true gentleman and always put family first. He was hard-working, fun-loving and was known to be a little ornery from time to time. He also loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and especially “The Best Damn Band In The Land.”
He was very active in his children’s lives and the community. He was a past president of the Jefferson Band Boosters and PTO and past president of the Delphos Jaycees.
Harry served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army from 1950-52 and served in the Air Force National Guard. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Elks Lodge 54.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with viewing 1 hour prior to the service at St. Peter Lutheran Church, the Rev. Angela Khabeb officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery with military grave rites by Ottoville VFW and Fort Jennings American Legion posts.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.

George Edmund Rodney, 65, died on Sunday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Elvin A.J. “Dick” Patton, 90, of Delphos, died on Wednesday morning at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born February 14, 1923, in Delphos to Carl A. and Alfreda (Best) Patton, who preceded him in death.
On June 12, 1942, he married Juanita M. Pollock, who died on July 6, 1966.
He is survived by a daughter, Candace L. (John) Shafer of Delphos; three sons, Michael A. Patton of Cincinnati, Patrick M. (Sherry) Patton of Delphos and Jay S. (Molly) Patton of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, R. Patricia Patton of Delphos and Mary (Charles) Say of Van Wert.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Patton; sister, Clarabelle (Norbert) Grewe; and a longtime companion, Marjorie Barnt.
Mr. Patton retired as executive vice president/cashier after over 30 years in banking from the former Commercial Bank. He attended the American Institute of Banking, where he received multiple certificates of banking. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Delphos; Delphos Country Club, The Elks, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during W.W. II and Korea.

Morris R. Gorman

Morris R. Gorman, 85, of Van Wert, died at 1:17 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Bay Park Community Hospital, Oregon, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 5, 1927, in Ridge Township, the son of the late Daniel and Mary Beatrice (Rohr) Gorman.
On Jan. 8, 1949, he married Mary Jean (Finkhousen) Gorman, who preceded him in death on March 19, 2008.
He is survived by his children, Diana (Steven) Pollock, Randy Gorman, Shelly (Chuck) Eberle, Teresa (Kurt) Schalois and Shawn (Michelle) Gorman of Van Wert, Kathy (Tom) Reed of Port Clinton and Todd (Nadege Jay)Gorman of Ceyzerieu, France; 25 grandchildren; 6 stepgrandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two children, Sandra Kay Gorman and Phillip Bruce Gorman; five brothers, Glenn, Frank, George, Tom and Fred “Ted” Gorman; four sisters, Eleanor Winkler, Katherine Williams, Florence Hiller and Helen Skerritt.
Mr. Gorman was a lifelong farmer and resident of Ridge Township. He also was employed part time as an electrician with the former Gorman Electric Co. of Van Wert. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 6034, longtime member of the Van Wert Airport Authority, Middle Point Amvets Aux., and an active member of various agricultural organizations.
Morris was an avid aviator and flew up to the time of his death. Always smiling, he loved his family, friends and fun times. He was a great neighbor and loved family gathering salon with snowmobiling, boating, camping, and hunting.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with a Parish Rosary to be recited at 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church Foundation and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
