Patricia Ann Baldauf, 76, of Van Wert, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Dec. 20 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on Oct. 31, 1936, in Van Wert to Harry Paul and Charlote L. (Thatcher) Semer, who preceded her in death.
On Oct. 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Alfred E. Baldauf, who preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 2012.
Survivors include her brothers, Paul (Peg) Semer of Grover Hill and Jim Semer of Van Wert; and nephews and nieces, Greg Semer, Kirk (Kim) Semer, Todd (Susie) Semer, Kevin (Julie) Semer, Mike (Edna) Semer, Chris (Susan) Semer, John (Shirley) Semer, Marilyn Diller and Cheryl Ann Semer.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Semer.
Mrs. Baldauf worked at Van Wert Manufacturing for 27 years and at the Bowling Lanes for a few years. She retired from Findlay Industries after 5 years. She loved to bowl, golf and loved her cats. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Van Wert, American Legion Post 178 Auxiliary, Van Wert Bowling Association and she was a member of the Van Wert Bowling Hall of Fame.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, with Reverend Paul Miller officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 10-2 p.m. Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.

Robert E. Swick, 87, of Defiance and formerly of Delphos, passed away at Parkview North Hospital in Fort Wayne at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
He was born on Aug. 23, 1925 in Delphos to Clarence and Leona (Molter) Swick, who preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Rosemary Hemker on May 17, 1947, who survives in Defiance.
Survivors also include his children, Cynthia “Cindy” (Don) Fischer of Maumee and Candyce “Candy” (Paul) Hawk of Defiance; a sister, Margaret Geise of Delphos; brothers, William “Bill” (Marie) Swick of Delphos and Jim (Barbara) Swick of Lima; five grandchildren, Eric (Nikki) Fischer, Brad (Jennie) Fischer, Annette Urbanski, Heath (Kelli) Hawk and Major Jerrod (Jennifer) Hawk; and 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Tom Swick and a sister Helen Clark.
Mr. Swick was co-owner of Swick and Sons and then became owner of the Vanilla Hut in Defiance for 12 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Defiance and a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. He was also a 4th Degree K of C, an auxiliary police officer for the City of Delphos and a member of the Disabled Veterans in Defiance. He enjoyed boating, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, the Rev. Todd Dominique officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos, with Military Grave Rites by the Delphos Veterans Council and a 4th Degree K of C service.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home with a parish wake at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Gary J. Knott, 56, of Van Wert, died at 8 a.m. on Wednesday from injuries sustained in a semi accident.
He was born March 31, 1956, to James and Rita (Mormon) Knott. His mother survives in Delphos.
On Sept. 26, 1981, he married Margie Lybold, who survives in Van Wert.
Survivors include his sons, Nicholas Knott of Athens, Benjamin Knott of Columbus; a daughter, Erin Knott of Van Wert; sisters, Rose Ann (Jerry) Vetter of Fort Jennings and Ruth (Gary) Solarik of Archbold; and brothers, John (Janie) Knott of Fort Wayne and Charles (Claire) Knott of Magnolia.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Knott was a truck driver for Quality Carriers in Lima. He was a member of St. Marys of Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, the Rev. Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.

James William Champ, 67, formerly of Spencerville and Lima, died at 11:36 a.m. Wednesday at the Hardin Hills Health Center in Kenton, where he resided since Oct. 22.
He was born May 14, 1945, in Lima to James Lewis and Elva Iota “Odie” Adams Champ, who preceded him in death.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with his nephew Pastor Thomas Roof officiating. Burial will follow in the New Salem Cemetery in Auglaize County, with military rites by the Spencerville Veterans.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Robert E. Hilvers, 72, of Ottoville died 5:39 a.m. Sunday at The James Cancer Center, Columbus.

He was born June 30, 1940, in Ottoville to Stephen and Veronica “Fronie” (Beining) Hilvers, who preceded him in death.

On May 18, 1968, he married Alice M. Trentman, who survives.

Survivors also include his children, Steve (Rhonda) Hilvers, Mike (Jodi) Hilvers and Lori (Jeff) Mills of Ottoville; five grandchildren, Abigail and Dru Hilvers and Aiden, Kiley and Treyton Hilvers; three brothers, John (Annette) Hilvers, Dick (Jan) Hilvers and Tom (Karen) Hilvers of Ottoville; a sister, Ruth (Richard A.) Schroeder of Leipsic; and sister-in-law, Jean Hilvers of Ottoville.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Hilvers and Jim Hilvers.

Mr. Hilvers retired from Unverferth Manufacturing after 40 years, where he had been a sales representative. He served in the National Guard for 6 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, and a member of the Ottoville Knights of Columbus. He was a 35-year board member of the Ottoville Mutual Telephone Company; social member of the Ottoville VFW and Delphos Eagles; and member of the Delphos Country Club. He had been a charter member of the Ottoville Jaycees/OACCS. He enjoyed farming, woodworking, and his morning coffee gang. He was especially fond of golfing, fishing and looked forward to spending time with his grandkids. He was a proud supporter of the Ottoville Big Green and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rev. John Stites officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township, where a scripture service will be held at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the Hilvers Family requests donations be made to Putnam County Home Care and Hospice or to the Putnam County Cancer Assistance Program.

Thomas J. Erhart, 86, of Kalida died at 10:45 p.m. on Sunday at The Meadows of Kalida.

He was born July 22, 1926, in Kalida to Charles and Eleanor (Brinkman) Erhart, who preceded him in death.

On April 19, 1950, he married Rose Mary Catherine Fortman, who died July 5, 2005.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Laura) Erhart of Indianapolis, Ind., and Robert (Janet) Erhart of Kettering; two daughters, Sharon (John) Stechschulte of Kalida and Joann Horstman of Ottoville; eight grandchildren, Craig (Teresa) Stechschulte, Carol (Matt) Jahn, Kevin (Wendy) Stechschulte, Bob (Fiancee Jaimie McIntyre) Horstman, Charlie Erhart, Anne Erhart, Susan Erhart and Nicholas (Casey) Erhart; a stepgranddaughter, Gretchen (Jonathan) Stemerick; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Erhart and Norma Erhart; and a brother-in-law, Orville Ellerbrock.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kim Erhart; three brothers, Norbert J., Paul J. and Bernard J. Erhart; and a sister, Mary Ann Ellerbrock.

Mr. Erhart was owner of Erhart-Stechschulte Insurance Agency, Kalida where he was an insurance agent and was a general agent for Columbus Mutual Life. He graduated in 1950 from University of Dayton in Business and Economics. He was a World War II Navy veteran; and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida; Lima Deanery Serra Club; St. Rita’s Medical Center Developmental Committee; Kalida Fish and Game; Kalida K of C, where he was a 4th Degree Knight; and Kalida School Board for 8 years. He was past president of Putnam County School Board of Education, serving for 26 years; past president of St. Michael’s Holy Name; past Chairman of Union Bank; and on the board of Putnam County Council on Aging. He was a charter member of Kalida Lions Club, charter member of Country Acres Golf Club in Kalida and life member of Ottawa VFW Post 9142 and Ottawa American Legion Post 63. He was instrumental in getting a doctor’s office in Kalida.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kalida, the Rev. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military rites by Ottawa VFW and Ottawa American Legion.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Love-Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Jackson Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to Diocese of Toledo Office of Vocations or Wounded Warriors.

He was born Feb. 17, 1931 in Delphos to Lawrence Andrew Ladd and Velma May Ladd, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Fisher Ladd; three children, Pam Green, Todd Ladd, and Jennifer Corbin; one sister, June Dunlap; two brothers, Kenneth Ladd and Dale Ladd; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, David Ladd.
Arthur was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation Village Road Chapel in Leland.

Charles Diller Moeller of Spencerville, Ohio, distinguished entrepreneur and beloved father and grandfather, passed into eternity on January 8, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was 85 years old.
Born on a humble farm outside Columbus Grove, Ohio, on March 28, 1927, Charles was the son of Roy and Frances Moeller who preceded him in death. He married Phyllis Snavely, now deceased, in 1949. He later married Francis Jarvis in 1960 and later divorced.
Charles is survived by his five children, Theresa L. Moeller, of Lima, Marcia L. (John) Elliot, of Lima, Charlene A. (Bruce “Shorty”) McCullough, of Spencerville, Charles L. Moeller, of Lima, Candace S. Moeller, of Lima; a step-daughter, Cheryl Steinwedel, of Lima, a stepson, Jeffrey (Lori) Jarvis; grandchildren Christi McGuire, Corrie Doty, Kasey Doty, Justin Elliot, Holly Elliot, Jordan Elliot, Broderick McCullough, Chandler McCullough, Sydney Moeller; five great grandchildren; stepgrandchildren Jennifer Burt, Jessica Spiers, Jillian Jarvis, Jaclyn Jarvis, Mark Steinwedel; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Charles was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Neuman Roof; a brother, Richard Roy Moeller; and a grandson, Craig Martin Doty.
Charles served in the U.S. Navy for two years. At the age of 23, he founded Ohio Decorative Products, Inc., Spencerville, specializing in zinc die casting and plating. He later expanded with Edgerton Metal Products in Edgerton, Ohio, and Ken-Dec, Horse Cave, Ky. In 1971, he started in the polyurethane industry with Flexible Foam Products, Inc., supplying flooring, furniture and bedding industries. In 2012 he celebrated 62 years of success in maintaining the family business. Flexible Foam Products, Inc. operates nationally with 13 locations and is currently expanding in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Charles also endeavored in farming operations, including dairy, livestock and grain farming. Current farms are in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana.

He enjoyed being actively involved and was civic minded in the many communities, including his hometown of Spencerville. Charles was a proud member and supporter of the Republican Party and attended many presidential dinners.

Charles led an inspirational life defined by family and faith. He was a member of the Shawnee Alliance Church.
There will be visitation today and Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shawnee Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 4455 Shawnee Rd., Lima, where there will be viewing one hour prior to the service.

Saturday morning, at approximately 10 a.m., Charles will be carried in a horse drawn hearse leaving Bayliff Funeral Home and proceeding left on Elizabeth Street past Ohio Decorative Products and then make the loop through downtown Spencerville.

Rita D. Sever, of Delphos, passed away Friday morning at 8:10 a.m. at Roselawn Manor in Spencerville.

She was born June 9, 1920, to John and Viola (Lang) Sever, who preceded her in death.

On Dec. 31, 1941, she married Oliver J. Sever Sr., who passed away on July 20, 2010.

Survivors include her children, three sons Mark J. Sever Sr. of Ft. Collins, Co, Carl F. Sever of Ft. Collins, Co and Oliver J. “Joe” (Kathy) Jr.,of Grove City; four daughters, Bernadette “Penny” (Benjamin) Chinni of Cleveland, Rosemary C. Koval of Annandale, Va, Janet K. (James) Singleton of Wadsworth and Laurel “Laurie” (Sam) Kill of Spencerville; 17 grandchildren;  Mark Jr., Andrew, Christine, Jason, Adrienne, Jennifer, Autumn, Devin, Stephanie, Nathan, Ryan, Aaron, Adam, Michael, Vanessa, Emily and Matthew; and 11 great-grandchildren; Brian, Timothy, Aidan, Ashleigh, Anthony, Alexander, Delaney, Kennedy, Adelaide, David and Ty.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sisters; Angela L. Kill, Sr. Mary Roberta Kill; 4 brothers, Norbert Kill, Bernard “Ben” Kill, Paul “Pidge” Kill and John Kill.

Mrs. Sever worked for St. John’s Catholic Schools as their secretary and lunch server for 22 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bingo, needle work and loved to converse with people.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home. There will be a Parish Wake on at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Roselawn Manor Activities Department.

She was born on Jan. 25, 1923, in Delphos to Daniel and Opal (Carmean) Cross, who preceded her in death.
She was united in marriage to George Sterling, who survives in Delphos.
Survivors also include a son, Richard (Becky) Auer of Delphos; five daughters, Carol (Jerry) Hirn of Delphos, Dianna (Norman) Mullenhour of Kentucky, Shirley (Everett) Hall of Coldwater, Patty (Harley) Duncan of Van Wert and Mitzi (Dave) Huffine of Van Wert; one sister, Dorothy Coulter of Delphos; two stepsons, Max Douglas Sterling of Dayton and Donald Anthony Sterling of St. Marys; one half brother, Roger (Shirley) Diltz of Delphos; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Auer; a daughter, Sue Ann Kohorst; and a sister, Donna Cross.
Mrs. Sterling worked for Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, unique woodworking and her flower garden. She also loved art and was a very creative and talented artist. She was a member of The Delphos Wesleyan Church.
Services will begin at noon on Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Prater officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m to noon at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.

Rose M. Brown, age 79, of Delphos passed away Friday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on April 11, 1933, in Delphos to Leonard and Edna (Gremling) Klier, who preceded her in death.
On July 14, 1951, she married Carl E. “Bus” Brown, who died on May 4, 2009.
Survivors include her children; five sons, Jim (Shelly) Brown of Van Wert, Joe (Vickie) Brown of Troy, Jay (Lauri) Brown of Delphos, Joel (Lori) Brown of Delphos and Jamie (Robin) Brown of Sidney; one daughter, Jayne Midtgard of Delphos; three sisters, Betty Osting and Molly Franklin of Delphos and Pat Clemens of Oakwood; six grandchildren, Duane, Ariann, Jacob, Mathew, Shelbi and Libbi; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John Brown; and brother, Leonard “Buddy” Klier.
Mrs. Brown retired from Orbitron. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 191 in Spencerville.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Reverend Gary Fish officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends and family may call from 2-8 p.m. on Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.

He was united in marriage to Fairy Etta Cross, who preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 2013.
Survivors include two sons, Max Douglas Sterling of Dayton and Donald Anthony Sterling of St. Mary’s; a sister, Mary (Ed) Rigdon of Venedocia; two brothers, Harold “Nick” (Phyllis) Sterling and Lonnie (Jeannette) Sterling of Delphos; a brother-in-law, Roger (Shirley) Diltz, three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kohler, Margaret Sterling of Delphos and Imalee “Lee” Sterling of California; a step-son, Richard (Becky) Auer of Delphos, five daughters-in-law, Carol (Jerry) Hirn of Delphos, Dianna (Norman) Mullenhour of Kentucky, Shirley (Everett) Hall of Coldwater and Patty (Harley) Duncan and Mitzi (Dave) Huffine of Van Wert; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Vernon, Frank, Lester, Lewis and Ray Sterling; a step-son, Gary Auer; and step-daughter, Sue Ann Kohorst.
Mr. Sterling had worked in the shipping department at Harter’s Corporation. He was an Air Force veteran and was enlisted from 1955 to 1965. He was a member of the Delphos Wesleyan Church and enjoyed wood carving and working in his flower garden.
Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Pastor Wayne Prater officiating. There will be Military Grave Rites given by the Delphos Veterans Council. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home.
