Robert “Bob” Rode, 81, of Elida, died at 2:46 p.m. Tuesday at his residence.
He was born Oct. 29, 1931, in Delphos to George and Martha (Honigford) Rode, who preceded him in death.
In 1951, he married Betty Dannhausen, who died on Aug. 23, 2011.
Survivors include a son, Steven (Carol) Rode of Fort Jennings; three daughters, Debra (Rufino) Gomez of Romana, Calif., Vicki (Ted) Music of Lima and Sandra (John) Gerstner of Xenia; a son-in-law, John Letzelter; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Rode; a daughter, Jenni Letzelter; a brother, James Rode; and a sister, Betty Wickstandt.
Mr. Rode retired from John P. Timmerman as an accountant. Prior to that, he worked for Sheller Glove for 30 years. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Private services will be held at a later date.

Norma L. Wollet, 90, of Middle Point, died at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at Van Wert Manor.
She was born Oct. 6, 1922, in Washington Township, to Delmer and Ethel (Jenkins) Stemen, who preceded her in death.
On March 8, 1943, she married Alfred Wollet, who died on Oct. 10, 1962.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria (Ric Wagner) Hundley and Ginger (Russ) Rahrig; two sisters, Marilyn (Dorce) of Canfield and Joan Alt of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Jennifer Rife, John (Diana) Hundley, Amber (Scott) Davis, Jason Miller and April (Jonathan) Bryant; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special sister-in-law, Ferne Wollet.
She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Vickie; and two brothers, Leonard and John Stemen.
Mrs. Wollet worked at Triangle Grocery in Van Wert and then was a nurses aide at Vancrest Nursing Home in Van Wert. She was also the clerk of the Village of Middle Point for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Middle Point, the Presbyterian Church in Middle Point, the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Middle Point Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to crochet and be with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the holidays, especially Thanksgiving. Fall was her favorite time of the year.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery, Middle Point.

Dale E. La Rue, 90, of Van Wert died at 2:04 a.m. Thursday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Van Wert to Floyd and Grace (Spelbring) La Rue, who preceded him in death.
On March 23, 1947, he married Helen (Shaffer) La Rue, who died in 2001. In 2002, He married Edna L. Harman, who died in 2010.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, with military graveside services performed by combined units of the Van Wert American Legion and V.F.W. Posts.

John Henry Wrocklage Jr., 64, formerly of Spencerville, died at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday at the Mary Ann Brown Residence Center in Lima, where he had resided since 1995.
He was born Nov. 5, 1948, in Lima to John and Evelyn (Pavel) Wrocklage Sr. His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Spencerville.
Other survivors include two sisters, Renee (David) Garza of Delphos and Tracy Holbrook of Spencerville; nieces and nephews, Michele Wrocklage of Russells Point, Rodney (Martha) Wrocklage of Bellefontaine, Brittney and Marissa Garza of Delphos, Eddie Keyton of Spencerville and Brandon (Kiley Diltz) Salyer of Delphos; great-nieces and nephews, Megan Hook, Rahin and Drew Wrocklage, Blaze Wickman and Aiden Salyer; and two aunts, Eleanor Louise Barnt Ditto of Spencerville and Joan (Harry) Landwehr of Lima.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Wrocklage.
Mr. Wrocklage was baptized and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. He had attended Robin Rogers School and later worked at the Marimor Industries, being affiliated with them for more than 50 years. He participated and won medals in the Special Olympics over the years.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. Stephen Blum officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery south of Monticello.

She was born June 23, 1927 in Russell County, Va. to Dewey S. and Ruby Allen Sykes Owens who preceded her in death. On April 27, 1957 she married LaVerne S. Gales, who passed away Dec. 23, 2004.

Doris E. Smith, 86, of Spencerville, passed away at 12:11 p.m. Monday at St. Rita’s Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was a resident of the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Oct. 6, 1926, in Jay County, Indiana, to Guy J. and Dessie A. (Grile) Stults, who preceded her in death.
On Dec. 15, 1945, she married John F. “Bud” Smith, who died on Dec. 23, 2009.
Survivors include two children, Steve (Pam) Smith of Spencerville and Cheryl (Patrick) Osting of Delphos; six grandchildren, Jeff (Stephanie) Smith of Opelika, Ala.; Greg (Kelly) Smith of Dumas, Texas, Mike Prine of Spencerville, Carissa (Marc) Reinicke of Lima, Joseph (Krystall) Knepper of Defiance and Mitchell Price of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren, Meagan and Tyler Dietering, Alysa Smith, Hannah and Haylee Prine, Jesse Farley, Indiliza Reinicke, Karlina Reinicke and Brianna and Kelsie Day; a sister, Margaret (Fred) Reynolds of Anderson, Ind.; and a brother-in-law, Gerard Rodmaker of Marion, Ind.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Smith; three brothers, Cecil Stults, Glenn Stults and infant Irvin Stults; a sister, Marjorie Ralston; brothers-in-law, Robert (Dottie) “Nub” Smith and Raymond “Ace” Smith; and a sister-in-law, Norma Rodmaker.
Mrs. Smith was a 1945 graduate of the Portland High School in Indiana. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and playing cards.

Larry E. Betz, 63, of Delphos, passed away at 3:30 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center on Dec. 10, 2012.
He was born March 8, 1949, in Lima, Ohio to Byron Betz and Mary (Kramer) Lowe, who preceded him in death.
On Sept. 22, 1978, he married Laura (Metzger) Betz, who survives in Delphos.
Also surviving are 3 sons; Jason Betz of Lima, David (Mindi) Betz of Delphos and Michael Betz of Cincinnati; 4 daughters; Kelly Betz-Haggard of Delphos, Bobbi Betz of Lima, Jennifer (James) Betz-Grubb of Convoy and Nicole Betz of Delphos; 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; step-mother Verno Betz of Adrian, MI and mother-in-law, Dorothy Miller of Delphos.
He was preceded in death by a son Larry Betz II.
Mr. Betz was a Correction Officer at Lima Correctional Facility. He then worked at TeleFlex.
Mr. Betz graduated from Columbus Grove in 1967. He loved to fish, enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid Bears and Ohio State fan. His true love was his family and grandchildren, for whom he took great pleasure in babysitting. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Delphos St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Chris Bohnsack officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Hilary J. “Fred” Friedrich, 78, of Middle Point, died at 8:33 p.m. Monday at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born Jan. 12, 1934, in Delphos to Joseph and Rose (Carder) Friedrich, who preceded her in death.
He was married to Velma “Val” (Granger) Friedrich, who died Nov. 26, 1998.
Survivors include children, Gary (Mary) Friedrich of Wetzel, Sherrie Friedrich of Van Wert and Cindy Friedrich of Fort Jennings; a brother, Edward (Janelle) Friedrich of Delphos; sisters, Margaret Fischer of Delphos and Marilyn (Dick) Hemker of Findlay; and 8 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Friedrich was a the former caretaker at King Cemetery, Middle Point, and retired from Ryder Truck Rental in Fort Wayne. He was a truck driver at Hagen Mfg., was a mechanic and worked in the parts room at Fort Wayne Leasing. He served in the US Navy Reserves for 8 years and was a member of the AMVETS Post 698, Middle Point.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos and was a volunteer at the Middle Point Fire Department for more than 40 years. He was a past member of Van Wert County Rabbit Breeders Assoc. and coached Middle Point Little League, ACME and Pony Leagues for both boys and girls.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert, the Rev. Stan Szybka officiating. Burial will be in King Cemetery, Middle Point.

Audrey Lynne Moore, 35, of Payne, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:25 a.m. Saturday, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, after bravely fighting a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1977, in Paulding to Nancy (Thompson) and Tony Burkley, who survive in Payne,
On Aug. 26, 2000, she married Chad Moore, who also survives in Payne.
Survivors also include a son, Dane at home; a daughter, Mallory at home; and a sister, Alison Burkley of Hilton Head Island, S.C.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Marion and Bonita Burkley; and maternal grandparents, Virgil and Helen Thompson.
Mrs. Moore was the director of student life at IPFW and enjoyed providing the orientation program for students and parents and instilling leadership skills in her students to provide a more fulfilling college experience. She also attended Woodburn Missionary Church and graduated from Paulding High School in 1995 and received a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1999. She obtained a master’s degree in education from Indiana University at IPFW in 2004.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodburn Missionary Church, 5108 Bull Rapids Road, Woodburn, Ind., the Rev. Joel DeSelm officiating. She will be laid to rest at Lehman Cemetery, Payne.

As a child, Lorene attended the Jackson Township One-Room School, in Putnam County. A homemaker, she worked on the family farm with the love of her life, Norbert. She would gather eggs, sometimes as many as four to five thousand a day. She was a member of the St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove, and its Altar Rosary Society. She loved working outdoors and was an avid flower gardener. Her other interest included, crocheting, baking, making homemade noodles, but nothing was more foremost than her faith and her family.
Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Rev. Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ruth E. Schindler, 87, of Fort Jennings, died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Rimer to Charles and Mirna (Magill) Beamand, who preceded her in death.
On Sept. 3, 1947, she married Carlyle Schindler, who died on May 28, 1997.
Survivors include a two sons, Gerald (Jan) Schindler of Marion, Iowa, and Jack Schindler of Fort Jennings; two daughters, Vicki (David) Wilkins of Fort Jennings and Doris (John) Stephens of Harrod; 11 grandchildren, Rachel Clayton and Randy Schindler, Jennifer Bush, Jaime Burns, Jonathon Schindler, Leanne Bockey, Brian Wilkins, John Stephens, Birdella Stephens, Christie Stephens and Rachel Able; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Schindler; a daughter-in-law, Jan Schindler; and a grandson, Jay Stephen.
Mrs. Schindler was a homemaker and farm wife. She attended Ottawa River Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and fishing at Marble Lake. She loved spending time with her family and animals and loved entering contests. In 1999, she won a new Ford pickup truck.

Shirley Jean Cockerell, 82, of Lima, died at 1:37 p.m. Sunday at Lima Convalescent Home with her family by her side.
She was born June 2, 1930, in Lima to Ralph and Sarah Carr, who preceded her in death.
On Dec. 28, 1947, she married Alvin “Alvie” Cockerell, who died on Jan. 14, 2001.
Survivors include a son, David (Peggy) Cockerell of Lima; two daughters, Pam (Don) Cook of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Diana (Bob) Beatty of Columbus; a sister, Sue (Ed) Zickafoose; five grandchildren, Jim (Karin) Cook of Berea, Jamie (Drew) Durbin of Columbus, Scott (Jill) Cockerell of Lima, Chris Cockerell of Chicago and Sara (Ian) Chongson of Lima; nine great-grandchildren, Logan and Mason Cook, Cassie and Jenna Durbin, Andrew and Nicholas Cockerell and Leo, Genevieve and Clara Chongson; three nephews, Jeff (Ann) Zickafoose, Jon (Jenny) Zickafoose and Greg (Cindy) Zickafoose.
She was also preceded in death by an infant brother.
She graduated from Elida High School in 1948. Mrs. Cockerell retired in January 2000 from the Allen County Common Pleas Court after 30 years with the county. She first served for 11 years at juvenile court and then 19 years with the common pleas as the judge’s administrative assistant, working with former Judge Michael Rumer, Judge Jeffrey Reed and Judge Robert Whitlach. Prior to her duration at the court, she worked many years at Mohler Flowers. After her retirement, Cockerell engaged in volunteer work including reading stories to students at Emerson Elementary School and offered clerical support to both Help Me Grow and Marimor School. She truly enjoyed giving her time and talents to the people in her community. Following her official retirement, she worked as a receptionist for Cory, Meredith, Rumer, Witter & Cheney, a local law firm.
She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the chancel choir, served on the music committee as well as he church/staff relations committee and the Diaconate Board. She took up golf and had a talent for crocheting. During their marriage, she and her husband enjoyed traveling with the highlight being a trip to Pasadena to see their beloved OSU Buckeyes play in the Rose Bowl. She was well-known in the local sports scene as a passionate fan of both Elida and Lima Senior High School. Her life revolved around her family, whom she devoted the majority of her time. She never missed a play, a sporting event, a concert or anything that involved her grandchildren. Nothing brought her more happiness than being with her great-grandchildren.

Sister Catherine Brickner, CPPS
Sister Catherine Brickner, CPPS (formerly known as Sister M. Lucina), died Sunday at Emma Hall in the Maria Joseph Living Care Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 63 years.
She was born in Ottoville in 1932, one of 10 children born to John J. and Philomena (Warnecke) Brickner, who preceded her death.
Sister Catherine is survived by her sisters, Lauretta Schaffer; Rose (Otto J.) Wenzlick and Carolyn (Gerald P.) Schimmoeller; brothers, Walter J.(Rose Ann) Brickner; Ralph W. (Sharon) Brickner; Steven V. (Sandy) Brickner; and John N. (Joan) Brickner.
Preceding her in death were her brother, Clifford A.(Mary) Brickner; and her sister, Doris Ann (Arnold) Ricker.
Sister Brickner formally entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Precious Blood on Aug. 28, 1949, at the age of 17. For 23 years, Sr. Catherine taught grades 1-12 in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri and Colorado. In 1976, Sister began a new ministry as activity director for the elderly in California and Ohio. In 2001, Sr. Catherine retired at Salem Heights Convent in Dayton. Due to failing health she moved in 2004 to Emma Hall.
Resurrection liturgy for Precious Blood Sister Catherine Brickner will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Salem Heights Chapel, 4960 Salem Ave., Dayton. Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. today and from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Margaret M. Wilson, 95, of Spencerville, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday with her family at her side at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, where she had resided for 10 years.
She was born May 16, 1917, in Delphos to Frederick and Mary Jane (Morgan) Krebs, who preceded her in death.
On Sept. 9, 1935, she married James A. Wilson, who died April 19, 1958.
She is survived by 12 children, Jim (Nancy) Wilson of Tom Ball, Texas, George “Chet” Wilson of Santa Rosa Calif., Jerry (Marilyn) Wilson of Dennison,
Dave (Susie) Wilson of Waynesfield, Joe (Judy) Wilson and Mary Kohli of Lima, Bill (Glenda) Wilson of Cumberland, Ind., Tom (Rita) Wilson of Elida, Chuck (Bonnie) Wilson of Dunkirk, Sandy Dearth of Madison, Wis., Sally Denbow of San Jose, Calif., and Carol Heil of Spencerville; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Wilson of Spencerville; 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Robert (Coralee) Wilson of Van Wert.
She was also preceded in death by her sons John Wilson and 4-year-old Paul Richard.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Monticello United Brethren In Christ Church and also attended the First Baptist Church of Spencerville. She had worked at the Woolworth Store in Lima and then became a nurse’s aide and worked in home health, the Lima T. B. Hospital, Roselawn Manor and Columbia Nursing Homes. She had also worked at the Tomato Cannery in Mandon. She also enjoyed roller skating, dancing and the “Charleston”, Welsh singing in Gomer where she had lived earlier and breakfast with friends at Jim’s Restaurant in Delphos.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Monticello United Brethren Church with Pastors Andrew Atkins and Jim Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow south of the church at the New Salem Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville and after 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Mary Caroline Pellegrini Wrasman
Jan. 21, 1931-Dec. 26, 2012
Mary Caroline Pellegrini Wrasman, 81, of Lima, died at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 21, 1931, in Akron to John W. and Mildred (Morris) Pellegrini, who preceded her in death. Following her parents’ death at a young age, she was raised by her father’s brother and sister, Dan Pellegrini and Pia Pellegrini.
On May 30, 1953, she married Ralph J. Wrasman, who died Feb. 16, 2009.
Surviving are nine children, Jenny (Tom) Lament and Julie (John) Imes of Lima, Linda (David) Young of Westminster, Kathy (Arnold) Coy of Waynesfield, Diane (Chris) Cole of Elida, Debbie (David) Hickey of Marysville, Bob (Jenny) Wrasman of Houston, Texas, David (Susan) Wrasman of Garner, N.C., and Ron (Lisa) Wrasman of Lima; a brother, John (Adrene) Pellegrini of Lima; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Irma (Tom) Buettner, Marg (Charlie) Ashby, Jane (Ron) Goergens and Alice (Gene) Rayman of Delphos, Mary Lou (Bill) Browning of Columbus and Sr. Mary Gail of Toledo; a lifetime friend, Rita Luchessi; and special cousins, Lucille Sheperd and Alice Winter.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frankie Pellegrini, who died at age 5; a sister, Nancy Pieraccini; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Shobe.
Mrs. Wrasman was a homemaker who enjoyed family, friends and life on the country farm. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Lima, and a member of a monthly Cousin’s Club.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church, Lima, the Rev. Tim Ferris officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima, and from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a time of sharing memories of Mary this evening at the funeral home.

Jeanne A. Boerger
March 23, 1928 – Dec. 27, 2012
Jeanne A. Boerger, 84, of Lima, passed away at 12:35 a.m. on Thursday at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
She was born on March 23, 1928 in Lima to Marvin J. and Emmaline A. (Wurm) Feltz, who preceded her in death.
On Nov. 30, 1971, she married Donald A. Boerger, who passed away on Sept. 1, 2007.
Survivors include her children; Michael (Sue) Sheeter of Lima; David Sheeter of Lima; James (Lisa) Graham of Morningview, KY; Susan Page of Lima; Julie (Jim) Lott of Ft. Pierce, FL; brother, Thomas (Myrna) Feltz of Lima; 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Donald Feltz, sister; Mary Catherine Wollam.
Mrs. Boerger was a 1946 graduate of St. Johns High School. She worked as a waitress at the Milano Club. Jeanne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #96, VFW Auxiliary #1275, Eagles Aerie #370 and AARP. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church for more the twenty years. Jeanne was proud of her heritage in that her great grandparents started the Citizens Loan and Building in Lima. She was a avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. She will dearly be missed by her dog Peppi.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima, with Father Stephen Blum officiating.
Visitation will be at Chiles-Laman, Shawnee Chapel from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday followed by an 8 p.m. parish wake service. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery in Lima.
