Martha M. Flanagan

Martha M. Flanagan, 91, of Delphos, died at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Allen County to John and Irene (Mueller) Youngpeter, who preceded her in death.
On Feb. 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert Flanagan, who died April 25, 1984.
Survivors  include  two sons,  Dennis  (Nancy) Flanagan of Illinois and Harry (Annita) Flanagan of Delphos; two daughters, Kathie (Thomas) Winter and Tina (Jeff) Grothouse of Delphos; a sister, Velma Kinstle of Florida; a brother, Eugene Youngpeter; a stepdaughter-in-law, Pam Harpster of Columbus; and 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Flanagan Harpster; a son-in-law, Danny Harpster; three brothers, Louis, Hubert and Franklin Youngpeter; a sister, Lillian Reindel; and one great-grandchild, Troy Reindel.
Mrs.  Flanagan  was  a house wife. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed working crossword puzzle and after her husband passed away, she would do ministry for others when she was missing him. Martha made hundreds of afghans, giving all away to family, friends and St. John’s Fall Festival. She was well-known for baking and had chocolate chip cookies for all who visited. She spent many hours sitting on her front porch. She had a green thumb and enjoyed her flowers.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Chris Bohnsack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are  to St.  John’s  Parish Foundation.
