Louis W. Etzkorn, 81, of Ohio City and formerly of Landeck, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Landeck to Ralph and Adella (Wienken) Etzkorn, who preceded him in death.
On Nov. 21, 1992, he married Norma Ricker, who survives in Ohio City.
Other survivors include five sons, Leonard Etzkorn of Spencerville, Larry (Sherri) Etzkorn and Mark (Karen) Etzkorn of Delphos, Alan Etzkorn of Spencerville and Steve Etzkorn of Delphos; a daughter, Nancy Grothouse of Delphos; a sister, Angela (Richard) Wieser of Lima; a brother, Jerome (Martha) Etzkorn of Delphos; a stepdaughter, Polly (Tom Ridenhour) Brinkman of Lower Salem; three stepsons, Gerald Hoehn Jr. of Union City and Roger (Deanna) Hoehn and Roy (Lisa) Hoehn of Delphos; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Mr. Etzkorn was a lifelong farmer and a US Army veteran. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Church, a past member of St. John the Baptist Church in Landeck and a member of the American Legion and the Farm Bureau. He loved to play the organ, go fishing, polka dancing and to go to his winter home in Auburndale, Fla.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Church in Landeck, the Rev. Chris Bohnsack officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, where a parish wake begins at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to St. John the Baptist Church.
